WASHINGTON, July 26 (UPI) -- Greg Dobbs went 3-for-5, homered and drove in five runs Tuesday, powering the Florida Marlins to an 11-2 victory over Washington.
Dobbs' RBI groundout in the top of the first gave the Marlins a lead they wouldn't relinquish. The first baseman added solo homer in the fifth and plated three more with a pair of RBI singles in the late going.
Logan Morrison contributed a two-run shot and John Buck chipped in with a solo homer as Florida banged out 13 hits and took the opener of a three-game series.
Ricky Nolasco (7-7) rebounded from a rough previous outing against San Diego in which he didn't make it out of the second inning, by holding the Nationals to two runs on three hits over 5 2/3 frames.
Washington's Jordan Zimmermann (6-9) was lit up for six runs on eight hits before exiting after 6 2/3 innings.
Laynce Nix socked a solo homer for the Nats.
