HATTIESBURG, Miss., July 25 (UPI) -- Former NFL quarterback Brett Favre isn't coming out of retirement to play again, despite rumors to the contrary, his agent said Monday.
After speculation the three-time MVP and 20-year veteran could be heading to the Philadelphia Eagles or other teams, agent Bus Cook told The (Jackson, Miss.) Clarion-Ledger in no uncertain terms Favre, 41, isn't making yet another return to the gridiron.
"Brett Favre retired in January. He has not talked to any teams, including Carolina Panthers, Philadelphia Eagles, the Arizona Cardinals and the Seattle Seahawks," Cook told the newspaper. "He has not talked to anyone about playing football.
"He's retired, period."
The rumors began last week when Eagles quarterback Michael Vick posted on his Twitter account that he would be "honored to have Brett Favre as a backup."
Favre retired from Green Bay in 2008, changed his mind and was traded to the New York Jets. After one year with with the Jets, he retired for a second time but once again reversed course to play with the Vikings.
He retired for a third time in January after an injury-filled second season with Minnesota, during which he tossed for 2,509 yards, 11 touchdowns and 19 interceptions.
