Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24
MIAMI, July 24 (UPI) -- Logan Morrison homered and John Buck doubled home the winning run late in the game Sunday, rallying the Florida Marlins to a 5-4 win over the New York Mets.
With the Mets holding a 4-3 lead in the eighth inning, Bobby Parnell (3-2) came in to pitch and Morrison greeted him by blasting a pitch over the center field fence to produce a tie.
Mike Stanton followed with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice. Buck then stepped up as a pinch-hitter and sent a breaking pitch into the right-center field gap, chasing home the go-ahead run.
Randy Choate (1-1) earned the win after after getting the final out in the top of the eighth. Florida starter Anibal Sanchez had surrendered 11 hits and four runs over seven frames.
Marlins third baseman Emilio Bonifacio extended his career-high streak to 23 games with a leadoff single in the first inning. His is the longest active hitting streak in the majors.
David Wright went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer for the Mets, who dropped the rubber match of their three game series.
