PHILADELPHIA, July 23 (UPI) -- Ryan Howard, Michael Martinez and Chase Utley all homered in the seventh inning Saturday, rallying Philadelphia to an 8-6 win over San Diego.
Trailing 4-3 entering the frame, Howard hit a pinch-hit, lead-off shot against Chad Qualls (4-5) to tie the score.
After Ross Gload singled and Jimmy Rollins walked, Martinez slammed a three-run homer, and one out later Utley (3-for-3, four RBI) capped the long-ball barrage with a bases-empty clout, his second round-tripper of the game.
Michael Stutes (5-1) earned the victory after allowing one run over 1 1/3 innings in relief of starter Kyle Kendrick, who had yielded three runs on six hits over 5 2/3 frames.
Ryan Madson picked up his 17th save for the first-place Phillies, who notched their ninth straight win over the Padres.
Cameron Maybin knocked in three runs with a two-run homer and an RBI single for San Diego.
