CINCINNATI, July 23 (UPI) -- Edgar Renteria entered the game as a replacement and drove in three runs Saturday, propelling the Cincinnati Reds to an 11-2 win over Atlanta.
Renteria came into the contest in the fourth inning after rookie starter Zack Cozart hyper-extended his left wrist in a collision with Braves pitcher Derek Lowe on a play at first base.
The veteran immediately contributed a go-ahead, two-run double in the sixth, putting the Reds ahead for good at 3-2, and later chipped in an RBI single as Cincinnati broke the game open with a seven-run seventh.
Todd Frazier contributed a three-run double during the big inning and Brandon Phillips went 3-for-5 with two RBI for Cincinnati, which broke a three-game losing skid to Atlanta.
Homer Bailey (5-4) collected the victory, yielding two runs on five hits and three walks over six frames. He struck out three.
Lowe (6-8) drove in a pair of runs at the plate but was touched for four runs on six hits in a five-inning start for the Braves.
