MLB: New York Mets 7, Florida 6

MIAMI, July 22 (UPI) -- David Wright, playing for the first time in more than 2 months, drove in the go-ahead run in the eighth Friday and the New York Mets edged Florida 7-6.

A stress fracture in his lower back had put Wright on the disabled list since May 16. He went 2-for-5 in his return with two RBI and two runs scored.

Wright snapped a 5-5 tie with a one-out double in the eighth that brought home Justin Turner from first and Wright then scored on a double by Daniel Murphy.

Florida got one of those runs back in the bottom half of the inning but Bobby Parnell prevented further damage by striking out Emilio Bonifacio with the potential tying run on third.

Parnell (3-1) got the win with 1 1/3 innings of relief and Jason Isringhausen was perfect in the ninth for his second save.

Wright was the second key player to get back in action for the Mets this week. Shortstop Jose Reyes returned after spending time on the disabled list with a strained hamstring.

Edward Mujica (8-3) took the loss in relief, allowing two runs in 1 1/3 innings.

Wright also doubled in a run during a three-run first inning. Florida got solo homers from Gaby Sanchez and Mike Stanton.

The Marlins, who have lost four in a row, had six one-run innings.
