BOSTON, July 22 (UPI) -- Kevin Youkilis and Adrian Gonzalez both had two RBI during a five-run seventh inning Friday that lifted the Boston Red Sox to a 7-4 victory over Seattle.
The Mariners lost their 13th straight game, a streak that began July 6. Nine of those losses have come on the road.
John Lackey (8-8) allowed eight hits over seven innings but he struck out four and owned a 7-1 lead when he left the game. After Seattle scored three times in the eighth against reliever Franklin Morales, Jonathan Papelbon came on in the ninth for his 22nd save.
Boston won for the 15th time in 18 games.
The Red Sox had managed only an RBI single by Youkilis in the first and a solo homer from Jacoby Ellsbury in the third before putting together their big seventh inning.
Boston batted around in the inning with Gonzalez driving in two runs on a single and Youkilis producing a two-run double.
Dustin Pedroia had three hits with a walk and extended his hitting streak to a career-best 19 games.
The loss went to Felix Hernandez (8-9), who surrendered six runs on 11 hits in 6 1/3 innings.
