CINCINNATI, July 22 (UPI) -- Dan Uggla delivered a pinch-hit, two-run homer with two away in the ninth Friday, bringing the Atlanta Braves a 6-4 victory over Cincinnati.
It was the first pinch-hit homer in Uggla's 6-year career and extended his hitting streak to 13 games.
Nick Masset (1-4) came on to work the ninth for the Reds and gave up a leadoff single to Alex Gonzalez. Two outs later Uggla hit a 3-2 pitch over the wall in right-center. It was the seventh homer of the game.
Jason Heyward and Brian McCann hit solo homers for the Braves in the fourth and Martin Prado produced another in the seventh that forged a 4-4 tie.
Cincinnati got home runs from Zack Cozart in the first and both Fred Lewis and Drew Stubbs in the sixth.
Jonny Venters (5-1) worked the eighth to pick up the victory. Craig Kimbrel retired all three men he faced in the ninth to pick up his 31st save, tops in the majors.
Cincinnati lost for the third time in four games and missed out on a chance to win back-to-back contests for the first time since mid-June.
