MLB: Arizona 4, Milwaukee 0

PHOENIX, July 22 (UPI) -- Ian Kennedy added to his breakout season Thursday by teaming with three relievers in carrying the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 4-0 blanking of Milwaukee.

Kennedy (11-3) gave up four hits and struck out five over seven innings, halting Arizona's two-game skid. He has a 5-1 record in his last eight starts and has won two more games than in any of his other four years in the majors.

Bryan Shaw, Joe Paterson and David Hernandez combined to complete the shutout, the second in the last four games for Arizona pitching.

All of Arizona's runs came on homers -- solo shots by Justin Upton and Miguel Montero in the fourth and a two-run blast in the eighth by Kelly Johnson.

The first two home runs came off Matt Greinke (7-4), who has failed to win any of his last five starts. He gave up five hits and struck out seven in seven innings.
