ANAHEIM, Calif., July 21 (UPI) -- Howie Kendrick's two-run single finished off a six-run sixth Wednesday that rallied the Los Angeles Angels to a wild 9-8 victory over Texas.

Texas had the longest winning streak in the majors this year come to an end at 12 games. The Rangers left the tying run stranded at third base in the ninth.

After falling behind 3-0, the Rangers came back to take an 8-3 lead thanks chiefly to a five-run fifth, when Michael Young and Yorvit Torrealba both had two-run doubles.

The Angels then scored six runs on seven hits in the sixth, with the eventual tying and winning runs coming in on Kendrick's single, his second hit of the inning. Kendrick also drove in two runs with a base hit in the first to finish with four RBI.

Texas came into the contest having allowed only two runs in its previous six games.

The starting pitchers were Derek Holland for Texas, who had recorded shutouts in each of his last two outings, and Dan Haren for Los Angeles, who entered the evening with an earned run average of 2.75. They both allowed seven runs on nine hits.

Hisanori Takahashi (3-2), who replaced Haren in the fifth and gave up a run in 1 2/3 innings, picked up the victory. Jordan Walden allowed a two-out double and threw a wild pitch in the ninth before collecting his 22nd save.

Tommy Hunter (1-1) came into the game during the big Los Angeles sixth and put the eventual go-ahead run on base to suffer the loss.
