MLB: Detroit 8, Oakland 3

DETROIT, July 19 (UPI) -- Miguel Cabrera's go-ahead home run Tuesday highlighted a six-run fifth inning that lifted the Detroit Tigers to an 8-3 win over Oakland.

Trailing 3-1 entering the fifth, the Tigers exploded for six runs off Athletics' starter Guillermo Moscoso (3-5) to take the lead.

Magglio Ordonez got the rally started with a sacrifice fly and Cabrera followed by blasting a tape-measure shot deep into the left field stands, putting the Tigers up 4-3.

Jhonny Peralta added an RBI single and Carlos Guillen capped the big inning with another two-run shot for the Tigers, who came into the game trailing first-place Cleveland by one game in the AL Central.

Brennan Boesch went 3-for-5 with an RBI for Detroit.

Rick Porcello (9-6) won for the third straight outing, allowing three runs on eight hits in a six-inning effort, issuing no walks while striking out three.

Hideki Matsui contributed a two-run single for the A's.
