Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

ST. LOUIS, July 19 (UPI) -- St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Ryan Theriot has been suspended for two games for contacting an umpire while contesting a call in the field.
Major League Baseball also fined him an undisclosed amount.
What got Theriot in trouble was when he touched second base umpire Mike Muchlinski while arguing a safe call on a force play at second in the bottom of the sixth inning of the Cardinals' loss to Cincinnati Sunday. Theriot was ejected from the game.
His punishment was scheduled to begin Tuesday, when St. Louis plays the New York Mets, but he could appeal.
The 31-year-old infielder is batting .282 with one home run and 32 RBI in 83 games this season.
