Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

BALTIMORE, July 18 (UPI) -- Boston Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz and Baltimore Orioles pitcher Kevin Gregg Monday began serving three-game suspensions.
The pair were disciplined for fighting during a July 8 bench-clearing brawl precipitated when Gregg yelled at Ortiz after he hit a fly ball.
MLB.com reported the suspensions were reduced by one game. The pair's fines were also reduced, the Web site said.
During the melee, Gregg and Ortiz shoved each other and tossed errant punches before the bullpens and dugouts emptied.
The players will miss the entire Boston-Baltimore series, which got under way Monday at Camden Yards.
