
BALTIMORE, July 18 (UPI) -- Dustin Pedroia's two-run double triggered a big eighth inning Monday that carried the Boston Red Sox to a wild 15-10 win over Baltimore.
With the score tied 7-7 in the eighth, the Red Sox erupted for eight runs, sending 12 men to the plate while banging out five hits.
Pedroia got it going with a bases-loaded double, while Kevin Youkilis contributed a two-run single, Carl Crawford added a run-scoring hit and Darnell McDonald capped the huge inning with a bases-clearing double.
Jacoby Ellsbury went 3-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored while Pedroia and Youkilis each finished with three runs batted in as the AL East-leading Red Sox collected 16 hits.
Dan Wheeler (2-1) earned the win with 2 1/3 shutout innings of relief.
Orioles reliever Michael Gonzalez (1-2) was saddled with the loss.
J.J. Hardy cracked a two-run homer and added an RBI single for Baltimore, which got a solo round-tripper from Adam Jones in dropping its seventh straight against Boston.
