CARSON, Calif., July 17 (UPI) -- Veteran German goalkeeper Frank Rost posted a shutout in his first MLS match Saturday, helping New York Red Bull earn a 0-0 draw with Chivas USA.

Rost wasn't overly busy and was helped by the crossbar in the 38th minute when Jorge Flores had him beaten after receiving a pass from Justin Braun.

Flores ripped a shot past Rost but it found iron.

New York (6-4-11) controlled play for much of the first half but couldn't dent Chivas USA goalie Dan Kennedy.

The Goats (5-7-8) earned a point in their fourth straight game.
