
SAN DIEGO, July 17 (UPI) -- Jesus Guzman hit a first-inning homer and drove in four runs Saturday, fueling the San Diego Padres' 11-3 victory over San Francisco.
Guzman's three-run shot scored Jason Bartlett (3-for-4, three runs scored) and Ryan Ludwick ahead of him and staked the Padres to a quick 3-0 lead.
The first baseman added a run-scoring single in the third before Orlando Hudson broke the game open with three-run blast of his own, handing the Padres their first win after two losses in their four-game series with the Giants.
Cory Luebke (3-3) went seven innings, yielding two runs on four hits while walking one and striking out five.
Giants starter Barry Zito (3-2) was lit up for eight runs, surrendering seven hits and walking four before exiting after only 3 2/3 innings.
Miguel Tejada socked a solo homer for San Francisco.
