
DENVER, July 17 (UPI) -- Shawn Marcum and four relievers stopped Colorado on seven hits Sunday and the Milwaukee Brewers edged the Rockies 4-3 to split a four-game series.
Marcum (8-3) got the victory with five innings of two-run ball, yielding four hits and three walks while striking out four.
LaTroy Hawkins, Takashi Saito and Francisco Rodriguez each put up a scoreless inning of relief and John Axford got his 25th save despite allowing an unearned run in the ninth for Milwaukee.
Casey McGehee drove in a pair of runs and George Kottaras doubled home the go-ahead tally in the fifth for the Brewers, who grabbed a half-game lead over Pittsburgh and St. Louis in the National League Central.
Aaron Cook (0-5) surrendered three runs on eight hits over 4 2/3 innings for the Rockies.
Jason Giambi doubled and hit a solo homer in Colorado's loss.
