CINCINNATI, July 17 (UPI) -- Miguel Cairo tripled and scored the go-ahead run in the seventh inning Sunday, rallying the Cincinnati Reds to a 3-1 decision over St. Louis.

The Reds trailed 1-0 for most of the game but came through with single runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings while four Cincinnati pitchers combined to handcuff the Cardinals on four hits.

Cincinnati tied it on an unearned run in the sixth thanks to a single by Zack Cozart, an error by St. Louis second baseman Skip Schumaker and a pair of wild pitches.

The Reds went up 2-1 in the next frame when Cairo hit a one-out triple and scored in Ryan Hanigan's bouncing single to left.

Cozart added a his first career homer, a solo shot, in the eighth for an insurance run.

Homer Bailey (4-4) allowed only one run on three hits over 7 1/3 innings and Francisco Cordero racked up his 18th save with a 1-2-3 ninth for Cincinnati, which took the rubber match of a three-game series with the Cards.

Jamie Garcia (9-4) was saddled with the loss despite yielding only one earned run on six hits, issuing no walks and striking out six.

Lance Berkman socked a solo homer for the Cardinals' only run.
