BASTAD, Sweden, July 16 (UPI) -- Sweden's top-seeded Robin Soderling and second-seeded David Ferrer of Spain advanced to the finals of the Swedish Open clay-court tournament Saturday.
Soderling downed third-seeded Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic 6-1, 6-0 and advanced to the championship match for the second consecutive year.
Soderling, who won the Swedish Open in 2009, avoided a rematch with last year's champion, Nicolas Almagro. Almagro lost Saturday to Ferrer 6-1, 6-3.
Although Almagro is tough on clay, Ferrer needed just over an hour to win Saturday's semifinal match.
Ferrer and Soderling have met 13 times in the past with Soderling winning 13 matches. Ferrer, however, will be going after his fourth tournament championship of the season.
