Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, July 16 (UPI) -- A Major League Soccer match between Vancouver Whitecaps FC and Real Salt Lake scheduled Saturday was postponed due to unplayable conditions.
Steady rain falling on a newly installed temporary grass field at Empire Stadium led to the postponement, Vancouver Whitecaps FC Chief Executive Officer Paul Barber said.
"We have been working around the clock to do everything in our powers to keep the field as dry as possible," he said. "Unfortunately, the combination of consistent rain and limited drainage options available for a temporary grass field has left us no other choice but to postpone (Saturday's) match."
The game has not yet been rescheduled.
