
NEW YORK, July 16 (UPI) -- Scott Hairston went 3-for-5 with a home run and drove in five runs Saturday, sparking the New York Mets' 11-2 rout of Philadelphia.
Hairston put the Mets up 3-0 with a two-run double in the third inning and capped New York's scoring with a three-run shot in the seventh, highlighting a 15-hit Mets attack.
Daniel Murphy collected three hits, including a run-scoring single and a solo homer, as the Mets evened their three-game series with the Phillies at one win apiece.
Jonathon Niese (9-7) allowed only one earned on six hits over seven innings, issuing a single walk and striking out six. The Mets left-hander located 69 of his 103 pitches for strikes.
Philadelphia's Cole Hamels (11-5) was tagged for seven runs on eight hits before being yanked after 4 1/3 innings.
Mike Martinez drove in the Phillies' only run.
