CHICAGO, July 14 (UPI) -- Greg Dobbs had a three-run double during a six-run ninth inning Thursday that rallied the Florida Marlins to a 6-3 victory over the Chicago Cubs.
The Marlins won their sixth straight thanks to a meltdown by the Chicago bullpen, which served up six walks in the final inning.
Chicago closer Carlos Marmol walked the first three batters in the ninth and Dobbs then ended an eight-pitch at-bat with his bases-clearing double to right.
Marmol (2-3) proceeded to walk another batter before finally being lifted, having failed to retire anyone en route to his major league-leading, seventh blown save of the season.
Kerry Wood came on and walked the first two batters he faced to load the bases before Gaby Sanchez delivered a sacrifice fly and Hanley Ramirez came through with an RBI single. Mike Cameron eventually singled in the final run of the inning off James Russell.
The win went to Edward Mujica (7-2), who retired the only man he faced to end the bottom of the eighth. Mujica was the sixth of seven Florida pitchers and gave way in the ninth to Leon Nunez, who allowed a run in a non-save situation.
Marlon Byrd hit a solo homer for the Cubs in the second and Darwin Barney came in on a bases-loaded hit batsman in the seventh. Those were the game's only runs until Florida produced its big ninth inning.
