
BAD GASTEIN, Austria, July 13 (UPI) -- Ksenia Pervak claimed a three-set win Wednesday and is the only seeded player to make the quarterfinals of the Gastein Ladies tennis tournament in Austria.
Pervak, seeded eighth, needed more than 3 hours to get past world No. 309 Nastja Kolar. Pervak took 59 percent of the points in the third set of a 4-6, 7-6 (10-8), 6-2 victory.
She also fought off eight break points, including both she faced in the last set.
Pervak moves into the quarterfinals against Laura Pous-Tio, who capped Wednesday's play with a 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (7-5) win over Kristina Barrois.
Other second-round results saw Carla Suarez Navarro top Arantxa Parra Santonja 6-3, 6-3 and Kateryna Bondarenko defeated Johanna Larsson 7-5, 6-0. Suarez Navarro and Bondarenko will square off in a quarterfinal Friday.
The first round was completed with Sybille Bammer's 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 (8-6) win over sixth-seeded Simona Halep. Halep's loss meant seeded players were 1-7 in Gastein's first round.
