Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24
CHICAGO, July 10 (UPI) -- Spot starter Anthony Swarzak held the White Sox to one run over six innings Sunday and the Minnesota Twins posted a 6-3 victory over Chicago.
Swarzak (2-2), making a start in place of the injured Scott Baker, pitched well, giving up four hits, walking two and striking out five for the Twins, who took three wins in their four-game series against Chicago.
Glen Perkins tossed 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief and Matt Capps racked up his 15th save as the Twins defeated the White Sox for the 10th time in 11 meetings.
Minnesota took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on run-scoring hits from Drew Butera and Jason Repko and pulled further ahead with three more in the fifth, highlighted by the RBI single from rookie Rene Tosoni, who was picked off twice in the game.
Chicago's Jake Peavy (4-3) lasted 4 1/3 innings, yielding five runs on 10 hits.
Paul Konerko, A.J. Pierzynski and Gordon Beckham drove in runs for the White Sox.
