
ANAHEIM, Calif., July 10 (UPI) -- Torii Hunter smashed two homers, driving in five runs Saturday in the Los Angeles Angels' 9-3 win over the Seattle Mariners.
Hunter's three-run shot in the fourth inning broke the game open, handing the Angels a 4-0 lead, and he added a two-run blast in the fifth, extending the Angels' lead to 7-3.
Mark Trumbo connected for a solo blast and Vernon contributed a run-scoring single as the Angels clinched their four-game series against the Mariners.
Joel Pineiro (5-3) surrendered 10 hits and a walk but only three runs over seven innings to earn the victory. He struck out seven.
Mariners starter Michael Pineda (8-6) was rocked for seven runs on six hits before being yanked after five frames.
Miguel Olivo drove in runs with a fourth-inning double and fifth-inning single for Seattle.
