MLB: Los Angeles Angels 4, Seattle 2

ANAHEIM, Calif., July 10 (UPI) -- Alberto Callaspo smacked a tie-breaking, two-run double in the eighth inning Sunday, propelling the Los Angeles Angels to a 4-2 victory over Seattle.

Torii Hunter led off the eighth with a single off David Pauley (5-3) and went to second on Bobby Abreu's groundout.

One out later, Howie Kendrick was intentionally walked and Callaspo made the Mariners pay for that decision, blasting a pitch into the right center field gap to chase home Hunter and Kendrick with the go-ahead runs.

The blow made a winner of Dan Haren (10-5), who logged a victory in his fourth straight start. The right-hander struck out eight over 8 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks.

Jordan Walden retired the final batter for his 20th save and the Angels finished a 13-game homestand with an 11-2 mark, going into the All-Star Game break one game behind the Texas Rangers in the American League West.

Mariners starter Felix Hernandez yielded two runs on six hits over seven innings.

Adam Kennedy stroked a two-run single for the Mariners.
