Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

HARRISON, N.J., July 9 (UPI) -- Dwayne De Rosario scored in the 61st minute Saturday, providing the difference in DC United's 1-0 decision over Red Bull New York.
De Rosario, who played for the Red Bulls until last month when he was traded for Dax McCarty, smashed a shot past Red Bulls goalkeeper Greg Sutton that struck the post and bounced in.
Charlie Davies almost scored at the end of the first half for United (5-5-7) when he beat the offside trap but couldn't convert as defender Tim Ream raced back to counter him.
New York (6-4-10) couldn't find the net despite controlling the opening minutes.
