WASHINGTON, July 8 (UPI) -- Jason Hammel and three relievers combined on a six-hitter Friday that allowed Colorado to halt a five-game losing streak with a 3-2 win over Washington.
Hammel (5-8) gave up two runs on five hits over 6 1/3 innings and the Colorado bullpen limited the Nationals to one base runner the rest of the way.
That runner came on a leadoff single in the ninth by Michael Morse, who was replaced on the base paths by Brian Bixler. Bixler was promptly picked off first by Huston Street, who collected up his 25th save.
All the Colorado runs came in the fourth against John Lannan (5-6). Singles by Jonathan Herrera, Todd Helton and Ty Wigginton accounted for one run.
With runners on second and third, Lannan committed a balk that delivered Helton from third and Cole Garner then singled in Garner.
Wilson Ramos hit a solo homer for the Nationals.
