LOS ANGELES, July 7 (UPI) -- Ruben Tejada's two-run double keyed a three-run sixth that gave New York the lead Wednesday and the Mets went on to down the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-3.
New York won for the eighth time in 11 games and handed the Dodgers their fifth straight loss.
It was a 1-1 contest heading into the sixth but the Mets went in front in that inning when Carlos Beltran doubled, went to third on a fly ball by Daniel Murphy and scored on a wild pitch thrown by Hiroki Kuroda (6-10).
Lucas Duda and Josh Thole kept the inning going with back-to-back singles and both runners scored on Tejada's double to right.
Jon Niese (8-7) collected the victory with a seven-inning effort. He allowed three runs on five hits and struck out six.
Francisco Rodriguez worked around a ninth-inning single for his 22nd save.
