
LOS ANGELES, July 6 (UPI) -- Jason Bay homered twice Tuesday to lead the New York Mets past the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-0.
Bay, who had six home runs in the entire 2010 season, hit a solo homer in the sixth inning and then a three-run shot, his sixth home run of the season, in the eighth. Carlos Beltran also homered to help extend the Mets' winning streak to three.
Mike Pelfrey (5-7) gave up five hits in six shutout innings for the win. He struck out two and walked two. Pedro Beato, Jason Isringhausen and D.J. Carrasco each pitched an inning and gave up a hit in relief.
Ted Lilly (5-9) surrendered three runs on six hits over six innings in the loss. Matt Kemp had two hits but also struck out twice.
Beltran's two-run homer in the fifth broke a scoreless tie.
