ATLANTA, July 6 (UPI) -- Jair Jurrjens became the first National League pitcher to win 12 games Wednesday and received plenty of support in helping Atlanta roll over Colorado 9-1.
Jurrjens (12-3) threw 109 pitches while giving up a run on five hits over six innings and left the contest owning a 7-1 lead. The only other 12-game winner thus far in the majors this year has been CC Sabathia of the New York Yankees.
Chipper Jones hit a two-run homer in the third and Dan Uggla had another one in the eighth to highlight a 14-hit Atlanta attack. The Braves won their third straight and handed the Rockies their fourth consecutive loss.
Jordan Schafer had four hits for Atlanta, winner of eight out of nine.
Aaron Cook (0-4) was roughed up for seven runs on 10 hits in five-plus innings to take the loss.
