Marlins acquire Cameron from Bosox

MIAMI, July 5 (UPI) -- The Florida Marlins said Tuesday they have acquired outfielder Mike Cameron and cash from the Boston Red Sox.

The Bosox will get a player to be named later or cash in exchange for the 16-year veteran and three-time Gold Glove winner, Marlins President of Baseball Operations Larry Beinfest said.

Cameron has posted a .149 average in 33 games for Boston. He has hit three home runs and driven in nine runs.

Cameron has played for the Chicago White Sox, Cincinnati Reds, Seattle Mariners, New York Mets, San Diego Padres, Milwaukee Brewers and Boston in a career that has spanned 1,910 games.

He sports a .249 career batting average with 272 homers and 950 RBI.
