CHICAGO, July 5 (UPI) -- Matt Treanor and Alcides Escobar drove in two runs apiece Tuesday in the Kansas City Royals' 5-3 win over the Chicago White Sox.

Escobar brought two runs in with a triple and Treanor connected with an RBI single in the sixth inning that proved to be the game-winning hit.

The win was the Royals' second in three games.

Felipe Paulino (1-2) got the win with three runs on nine hits and nine strikeouts over six innings. Joakim Soria earned his 14th save despite putting the tying run on base in the ninth inning.

Paul Konerko drove in two runs for Chicago, including a solo home run in the bottom of the second inning after the Royals had taken a 3-0 lead in the top of the frame.

Jake Peavy (4-2) started for the Sox and struck out four, leaving him one short of 1,500 for his career. He took the loss after giving up five runs on six hits over six innings.
