ATLANTA, July 5 (UPI) -- Derek Lowe pitched Atlanta to a victory and helped his own cause with a bases-clearing double Tuesday in the Braves' 5-3 decision over Colorado.
Lowe (5-6) allowed three runs over 5 1/3 frames, giving up five hits and three walks to go with four strikeouts.
At the plate, Lowe broke the game open with a three-run double that scored Chipper Jones, Dan Uggla and Nate McLouth for a 4-0 Atlanta lead.
Four Braves relievers teamed up for 2 2/3 shutout innings and Craig Kimbrel earned his 26th save with a scoreless ninth.
Uggla and Freddy Freeman added solo homers for the Braves, who took a 2-0 lead in their four-game series against the Rockies.
Colorado's Jhoulys Chacin (8-6) couldn't find the plate, issuing six walks in a five-inning start. The right-hander allowed four runs on four hits.
Chacin, Charlie Blackmon and Chris Iannetta each collected an RBI for the Rockies.
