
PITTSBURGH, July 4 (UPI) -- Neil Walker drove in the go-ahead run with an RBI single and Paul Maholm tossed six strong innings Monday in Pittsburgh's 5-3 win over Houston.
Chase d'Arnaud singled to lead off the fifth inning in a 3-3 game, advancing to third on Garrett Jones' single and to third on Andrew McCutchen's fly out.
Walker then lined an 0-2 pitch to right, plating d'Arnaud with the eventual game-winner as the Pirates moved three games over .500 (44-41) for the first time in 12 years.
Alex Presley went 3-for-4 with an RBI while Walker and Lyle Ovrerbay each contributed two hits with a run batted in for the Bucs.
Paul Maholm (5-9) allowed three runs (one earned) on five hits over six innings to earn the victory, walking three and striking out three.
Daniel McCutchen and Jose Veras each tossed a scoreless inning of relief and Joel Hanrahan secured the victory with his 25th save.
Astros starter Brett Myers (3-8) absorbed the loss, surrendering five runs (four earned) on 13 hits through six innings.
Carlos Lee drove in runs with a sacrifice fly and third-inning single for Houston.
