MLB: N.Y. Mets 3, N.Y. Yankees 2 (10 inn.)

NEW YORK, July 3 (UPI) -- Jason Bay's RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning completed a New York Mets comeback Sunday, rallying them to a 3-2 win over the crosstown Yankees.

The Mets were down to their last strike in the ninth, trailing 2-1 while facing Yankees closer Mariano Rivera. But Ronny Paulino poked a pitch through the right side of the infield to score Bay with the tying run.

In the 10th, Scott Hairston led off with a walk off Luis Ayala (1-2) and went to second on Angel Pagan's sacrifice. After Justin Turner was hit by a pitch, Boone Logan relieved and struck out Carlos Beltran.

But Daniel Murphy reached on shortstop Ramiro Pena's second fielding error in two innings, loading the bases. After Hector Noesi relieved, Bay laced a hit to right-center, scoring the game-winner.

Francisco Rodriguez (2-2) earned the win with two innings of scoreless relief for the Mets, who avoided a three-game sweep at the hands of the Yankees.
