ANAHEIM, Calif., July 3 (UPI) -- Jared Weaver tossed eight innings of one-run ball Saturday and the Los Angeles Angels thumped the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-1.
Weaver (10-4) posted his eighth straight start without a loss, yielding only one run on four hits, walking two and striking out eight while lowering his ERA to an American League-best 1.92.
The Angels ace threw 77 of his 111 pitches for strikes and allowed only a fifth-inning sacrifice fly by Trent Oeltjen as the Angels evened their three-game crosstown series with the Dodgers at one win apiece.
Vernon Wells socked a two-run homer and Erick Aybar added two RBI in the Angels' win.
Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw (8-4) struck out 10 batters but was rocked for seven runs (six earned) on nine hits.
