DETROIT, July 3 (UPI) -- Magglio Ordonez delivered a two-run single in the seventh inning Sunday, rallying the Detroit Tigers to a 6-3 interleague win over San Francisco.
Trailing 3-2 entering the frame, Brandon Inge drew a two-out walk from Giants starter Ryan Volgelsong. Jeremy Affeldt (1-2) entered and walked Jhonny Peralta.
Miguel Tejada's throwing error on a Brennan Boesch grounder then loaded the bases and Ordonez followed by lining a 2-1 pitch up the middle, scoring Inge and Peralta.
Inge added a two-run triple in the eighth for the Tigers, who avoided a three-game interleague sweep at the hands of the Giants and moved within 1/2 game of Cleveland atop the American League Central.
Rick Porcello (7-6) broke a personal four-game winless streak, yielding three runs on five hits over seven frames, walking two and fanning six, and Jose Valverde tossed a scoreless ninth to lock up his 20th save for the Tigers.
Cody Ross delivered an RBI single among his two hits for San Francisco.
