NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa., July 2 (UPI) -- Nick Watney's course record-setting 8-under 62 Saturday lifted him into a share of the lead with Rickie Fowler after three rounds of the AT&T National.
Watney's 62 was one shot better than the Aronimink Golf Club record set earlier in the day by Steve Marino and knotted him with Fowler at 9-under-par 201 through 54 holes.
Fowler ended with a 6-under 64 after starting hot. He was 6-under and looked to have a chance for a 59 through 10 holes but played the last eight holes at even-par.
Watney's round also tied for the lowest-ever in the tournament's history. Anthony Kim and Hunter Mahan both shot 62s in 2009 when the AT&T Invitational was played at Congressional Country Club in Maryland.
Second-round leader K.J. Choi overcame a slow start to finish with a 1 under 69, good for sole possession of third place at minus-8.
Marino, first-round leader Adam Scott (66) and Webb Simpson (64) knotted in fourth at minus-7.
