LONDON, July 1 (UPI) -- Maria Sharapova goes after her fourth Grand Slam title Saturday, taking on Czech left-hander Petra Kvitova in the Wimbledon women's final.

Sharapova, 24, and her 21-year-old opponent have met just once on the WTA circuit -- a 2010 match won by the Czech.

The Russian, who won the Wimbledon championship in 2004, also claimed titles in the U.S. Open and Australian Open in a career that has brought her 23 tournament titles overall.

Sharapova is ranked No. 6 in the world and Kvitova is No. 8.

Kvitova has won three WTA events this year.

She is trying to become the first left-hander to win the Wimbledon women's championship since Martina Navritova, also a Czech native, took one of her many titles in the event in 1990.
