Logano wins wild Nationwide race

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., July 1 (UPI) -- Joey Logano survived a spin early in the race and a large pileup on the final lap Friday to win the Nationwide Series race at Daytona International Speedway.

Logano blew a tire on the backstretch 26 laps into the race and wound up at the back of the field. He battled back, however, and was listed in sixth place heading into the final lap.

Kyle Busch helped push Logano to the front during the wild closing lap and the eventual winner edged Jason Leffler by .04 of a second.

A collision between Mike Wallace and Danica Patrick on the last lap led to a multicar crash that involved, among others, Tony Stewart, Elliott Sadler and Jamie McMurray.

Reed Sorenson finished third. Patrick had a chance to win until the final moments and led the race for 13 laps. She finished 10th.
