CHICAGO, June 30 (UPI) -- Geovany Soto's two-out, three-run, pinch-hit home run in the bottom of the 13th Thursday handed the Chicago Cubs a 5-2 win over San Francisco.

The Giants had taken a 2-1 lead in the top of the inning when Pablo Sandoval stroked a solo home run but Jeff Baker kept the Cubs alive in the bottom of the inning with a two-out double off San Francisco reliever Ramon Ramirez (2-1). Baker then scored the tying run on a single by Darwin Barney, who took second on a throw to the plate.

After Starlin Castro drew an intentional walk. Soto put the game away with a three-run shot over the left field wall.

The Giants, who carried a seven-game winning streak into the contest, led 1-0 in the bottom of the ninth but Aramis Ramirez hit a solo home run off San Francisco closer Brian Wilson to force extra innings.

John Grabow (1-0) got the win despite allowing the ninth inning home run to Sandoval for a blown save.

Giants starter Matt Cain went seven shutout innings, allowing just four hits and one walk while striking out six.

Carlos Zambrano started for the Cubs and left the game with an apparent injury after facing three batters and getting no outs in the second. There was no immediate word on the nature of the injury.
