PARIS, June 30 (UPI) -- Richard Green and Graeme Storm both shot a 6-under 65 Thursday that gave them the first-round lead of the French Open.

Storm is seeking his second title at this event in four years. Green, who has yet to finish among the Top 10 on the European Tour this year, had the lead by himself until he bogeyed the par-4 17th.

George Coetzee, Thorbjorn Olesen and James Morrison shared second place at 66. Coetzee finished third last week at the BMW International.

The large group deadlocked in sixth place at 68 included Paul Broadhurst, Thongchai Jaidee, Jeev Milkha Singh and Matteo Manassero.

Defending champion Miguel Angel Jimenez and Martin Kaymer, ranked fourth in the world, both had a 71.
