NEW YORK, June 29 (UPI) -- Russell Martin's three-run homer put New York in front to stay in the fourth Wednesday and the Yankees went on to down Milwaukee 5-2.
New York won its fourth in a row with the help of A.J. Burnett, who ended his recent home struggles with a seven-inning effort. Burnett (8-6) had allowed 12 runs in 19 2/3 innings over his three previous starts at Yankee Stadium, but he limited the Brewers to a pair of runs on seven hits with four strikeouts.
Milwaukee held a 1-0 lead going into the fourth, but Robinson Cano opened that inning with a triple off Shaun Marcum (7-3) and scored the tying run on Nick Swisher's single.
Jorge Posada singled Swisher to third and Martin followed with his 10th homer on a 0-2 pitch. Posada added a solo shot in the sixth.
Mariano Rivera threw a perfect ninth for his 21st save.
Marcum suffered his first loss since May 27.
