PHOENIX, June 29 (UPI) -- Wily Mo Pena blasted a pinch-hit home run in the bottom of the ninth Tuesday to carry the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 6-4 win over Cleveland.
Pena's two-out shot to left field came after Cleveland had tied the game in the top of the ninth on a two-run homer by Carlos Santana.
Pena was batting for pitcher Alberto Castillo (1-0), who wound up with the victory in relief of Daniel Hudson, after Hudson had given up two runs on six hits over eight innings. J.J. Putz was hung with a blown save in 2/3 inning of work.
The late-inning offense by both clubs resulted in six of the game's 10 runs coming in the final 1 1/2 innings.
Tony Sipp (3-1) took the loss for the Tribe. Josh Tomlin scattered two runs and five hits over seven innings and had two of Cleveland's eight hits plus an RBI.
