PHOENIX, June 28 (UPI) -- Orlando Cabrera blasted a tie-breaking home run in the ninth inning Monday, boosting the Cleveland Indians to a 5-4 interleague victory over Arizona.
The Diamondbacks had rallied for a run in the bottom of the eighth to tie the score but Cleveland came right back to the take the lead in the ninth when Cabrera launched a pitch from J.J. Putz (1-2) into the corner of the left field stands.
The blast made a winner of Rafael Perez (3-1), who struck out Miguel Montero with the potential go-ahead run standing on third to end the eighth.
Chris Perez followed in the ninth with his 19th save.
Asdrubal Cabrera socked a two-run homer and rookie Lonnie Chisenhall collected two hits and an RBI in his major league debut for Cleveland, which remained one game behind first-place Detroit in the American League Central.
Kelly Johnson smacked a game-tying RBI triple in the eighth for the Diamondbacks, who lost the first of a three-game set with the Indians.
