
SEATTLE, June 28 (UPI) -- Freddie Freeman blasted a go-ahead two-run homer in the seventh inning Monday, carrying the Atlanta Braves to a 3-1 interleague win over Seattle.
With the score tied 1-1, Brian McCann led off the seventh with a single. One out later, Freeman scalded a pitch from Eric Bedard (4-6) over the fence in the deepest part of center field.
Brandon Beachy (3-1) earned the victory, holding the Mariners to one run on three hits over six innings, yielding one walk while striking out nine.
George Sherrill, Scott Linebrink and Eric O'Flaherty combined for two innings of scoreless relief and Craig Kimbrel racked up his 21st save with a 1-2-3 ninth for Atlanta, which won the first contest of a three-game set against Seattle.
Bedard went seven innings for the M's, surrendering three runs on four hits over seven innings.
Adam Kennedy hit a solo homer for Seattle's only run.
