EDMONTON, Alberta, June 26 (UPI) -- The Edmonton Oilers have re-acquired veteran forward Ryan Smyth from the Los Angeles Kings, the teams announced Sunday.
The 35-year-old winger was obtained by the Oilers in exchange for forward Colin Fraser and a seventh-round pick in next year's draft.
The deal came together after a proposed trade last week involving Gilbert Brule and a fourth-round pick fell through because of the Kings' concerns over Brule's health, the Canadian broadcaster TSN reported.
Smyth, a 1994 first-round draft pick by the Oilers, played for them until he was traded to the New York Islanders during 2006-07 season. He has since played for Colorado and the Kings.
The winger has racked up 355 goals and 405 assists over 1,069 games.
Fraser, meanwhile, has scored 16 goals and added 41 points in 224 career games with Chicago and the Oilers.
