Sale of Phoenix Coyotes still undecided

GLENDALE, Ariz., June 24 (UPI) -- Officials in Glendale, Ariz., indicated they hope to have a buyer for the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League within the next several weeks.

"I know the city's hope is to move forward toward a closing by the end of the summer," Bill Daly, deputy commissioner of the National Hockey League, said in an Arizona Republic report.

The Glendale City Council met Tuesday to discuss the potential sale but officials declined to provide any details.

"I am very hopeful that when we return from our break in August we will be hearing some good news," Councilwoman Joyce Clark said.

Potential Coyotes buyer Matthew Hulsizer of Chicago said he is anxious to make a deal.

"I'm still interesting in buying the Coyotes but the clock is striking midnight right now," Hulsizer said. "The council is considering something and we're really interested in keeping the team [in Glendale] forever."
