DETROIT, June 24 (UPI) -- Wily Mo Pena broke an eighth-inning tie with a solo homer Friday that lifted the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 7-6 win over Detroit.

The Diamondbacks rallied from a three-run deficit to win their seventh straight road game. They were coming off a sweep of Kansas City.

Casper Wells hit a two-run homer in the fourth to give the Tigers a 6-3 advantage but Arizona tied it in the fifth on a two-run single by Xavier Nady and a wild pitch by reliever Ryan Perry that allowed Stephen Drew to score.

Pena's homer came off David Purcey (1-1) after Purcey had retired the first two men in the eighth.

Esmerling Vasquez (1-1) worked the seventh to get the win. J.J. Putz walked a batter in the ninth on the way to his 21st save.
